Dr. Lownsbury completed a bachelor of science degree from Arizona State University and one year of a post bachelors program in biomedical science at Midwestern University Glendale. She completed her medical school training at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. She completed her psychiatry residency in Miami Florida at Community Health of South Florida. She completed two years of internal medicine residency in Corpus Christi Texas.
During her residency, she pioneered a new resident wellness program called POWER. She educated other residents about burnout and physician suicide. She was elected resident-of-the-year by faculty and colleagues in 2017. She was elected as a member of ACGME Program Evaluation Committee and resident clinic liaison in her 3rd year of residency.
She conducted research involving controlled substances in the outpatient clinic and co-wrote controlled substance prescribing policies and procedures for Community Health of South FL. She gave field focused seminars at Barry University in 2016.
She became a diplomat of the American Board of psychiatry and neurology in 2019. She has medical licenses in Maryland and Arizona. After Psychiatry residency, she worked at Adventist HealthCare in Rockville Maryland as an inpatient psychiatrist. She has a diverse background with experience in community mental health, geriatric, adolescent, consult liaison, and emergency psychiatry.
