Cory Nielsen, D.O. is a licensed adolescent & adult psychiatrist in the state of Arizona. Dr. Nielsen was born in Phoenix, AZ and received his B.S. in biology from Grand Canyon University, where he went on to complete his M.S. in Psychology. His thesis focused on early mental health education through its incorporation in K-12th grades. While pursuing his doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University-AZCOM, he also participated in research on Duchenne Musuclar Dystrophy and Marfan Syndrome. He remained in Arizona for his residency training in General Psychiatry at the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance before moving on to his Child and Adolescent Fellowship. During his third year of residency, he served as Vice Chief with a focus on education within the program. He was awarded the Creighton Resident Teaching Award for his dedication to the education of medical students. Outisde of education, he has interests in psychotherapy, moral injury, and grief and bereavement.
Dr. Nielsen is passionate about cultivating a genuine therapeutic alliance with his patients and incorporates psychodynamic psycotherapy as well as mindfulness into his methods. He looks forward to getting to know each patient and is grateful for every mental health journey he gets to be a part of.
