Donna Kashani, M.D. is a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who has worked with healthy and high functioning individuals in a private practice setting for over twenty-five years. Her primary practice is in La Jolla, California; however, she is expanding her practice to include a select group of patients in Arizona. She has enjoyed providing a concierge model of care to her clients for the entirety of her practice. She works with individuals to identify their core competencies, with the focus being on recognizing patterns of behavior leading to personal bests in wellness, career and health.

Dr. Kashani has been ranked by Healthgrades as the #1 child and adolescent psychiatrist in the country since 2016. Since earning her medical degree at the age of twenty-three, Dr. Kashani has dedicated her career to patient care and wellness with an area of focus working with healthy and high functioning teens and adults. She has made hundreds of television and professional appearances and provides practical therapy on issues related to parenting, career advancement, self-care and maintenance, as well as promoting a comprehensive medical assessment and educated treatment. Dr. Kashani has co-authored "Raising Happy Children" and enjoys patiently addressing the multitude of issues that can impact social, professional and personal well-being. She enjoys yoga, hiking, community emergency preparedness services, and traveling.

Adult Psychiatrist

Dr. Lownsbury completed a bachelor of science degree from Arizona State University and one year of a post bachelors program in biomedical science at Midwestern University Glendale. She completed her medical school training at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. She completed her psychiatry residency in Miami Florida at Community Health of South Florida. She completed two years of internal medicine residency in Corpus Christi Texas.

Clinical Psychologist

Koyun (Alice) Chi, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who was raised biculturally in both the United States and Taiwan. As a trilingual (English, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish) therapist, she completed her bachelor’s degree at Rice University and her master’s and doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Palo Alto University. Dr. Chi went on to complete her predoctoral residency at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, and her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Santa Cruz.  

Dr. Chi has a breadth of experiences from her work in inpatient and outpatient hospitals, community mental health clinics, and university college counseling. Prior to moving to Arizona, she worked as a supervising psychologist at The Ohio State University where she provided individual and group therapy to students, consultation to faculty/staff, and clinical training to psychology graduate students. She also collaborated with Apple to develop the new Ohio State Wellness app that helps students increase their mental health awareness, build healthy habits, and navigate support resources on campus and in the community.  

Dr. Chi is particularly interested in the intersection between family, culture, and identity expression. Her areas of expertise and interest include depression, anxiety, body image, disordered eating, grief and loss, trauma (including generational and racial trauma), multicultural identity formation, and LGBTQ+ identities. Dr. Chi approaches therapy from a compassionate psychodynamic perspective, honoring the importance of one’s cultural and developmental upbringing. From this person-centered and emotion-focused foundation, she incorporates techniques from various treatment modalities, including mindfulness-based practices, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and somatic practices. She deeply values the therapeutic relationship as an avenue for working with the present moment to create growth and change.

Dr. Chi is committed to various dimensions of wellness in her personal life. To keep her spine, lungs, and heart healthy, she practices yoga asana daily. Dr. Chi also loves dancing salsa and bachata, cooking, eating, resting, and catching up with friends and family on the phone who are across continents and time zones. Anson Liu, MD completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance at the University of Sydney, a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Masters Degree in Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and his medical degree at the University at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He completed both his General Psychiatry residency training and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship training at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Hospital. He trained with many world-renowned experts in psychiatry and psychotherapy including authors and contributors to the creation of the DSM-5 diagnoses at his training program. He trained with Dr. John Gunderson, the founder of the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder during his training. Sheppard Pratt Hospital is one of U.S. News and World Report ranked best psychiatric hospitals in the United States and a quaternary psychiatric hospital in the country, accepting patients nationwide.  As a result, he is an expert diagnostician as well as psychotherapist. He is also well published in the field of psychiatry as well as other medical fields, with over 10 publications in major medical journals as well as presentations in national scientific meetings in the fields of psychiatry, anesthesiology and gastroenterology. He had the honor of being nominated as the Chief Resident/Fellow of his training program for his outstanding clinical work as well as leadership in the program. He is board certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the United States. He is registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and is certified to practice independently in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Ontario.

Forensic Psychiatrist

Emily Gavett-Liu, MD, is a child, adolescent, adult and forensic psychiatrist. She completed her medical school and General Psychiatry residency at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine, and went on to complete her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry Fellowships at SUNY Upstate Medical School. She is triple board certified in General Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
